There are lots of parks and amenities on Hilton Head Island.
One thing that many people don't realize is that when you purchase a piece of property within the town limits on the island, you actually have to pay one-quarter of one percent (.0025) of teh purchase price to the town. This money then goes towards the towh of Hilton Head Island buying up property to prevent development and help the area maintain its natural beauty.
In fact over the past few years, the town has also been usinig some of the money to buy up land in Bluffton, as well. The reason for this is because Bluffton is the Gateway to Hilton Head Island and we want our "Gateway" to be as asthetically pleasing as Hilton Head Island itself.
